Nice and private room for a family. Unformal athmosphere. Helpful and skilled staff.
I like that the hostel was relatively close to the city centre and Alber area.
I did not like that I got charged £3.00 more per person! I made a reservation at Booked.net and the price was £58.00! The was a note in the reservation stating that youth hostel memebers will be discounted £3.00. I think Booked.net should advertise normal prices and not the discounted prices. I believe most of the people booking this hostel are not memebers.
Confort is bad, food as well, and prices do not reflect this. Value for money was poor.
Friendly helpful staff with smiling faces, large clean room + "disabled "facilities. Free car parking a huge bonus. Good location.
the "damp" spots on wall and ceiling in Room 1 bathroom gave off a musty smell + whiffs of urine from drainage system @ times. Think the "Servisair", above the door in bathroom was running low on batteries hence constant bleeping . Everything was very clean just these odours, so bathroom door kept shut for the two reasons above. Reported to reception who endeavoured to deal with urine odour.
Friendly, helpful staff
Before I booked the hostel, I called them to ensure that there was no hidden charges/conditions to stay. I was told no. On arrival I was informed of an extra £3 per person (£9) charge as we didn't carry hostel cards. I would recommend this hostel to a large group of people, but I did not find it good value for money for 3 people sharing a room.
Comfortable bed, clean.
For the price paid, I expected at least towels and soap to be provided! And extra charge for breakfast should have been included in the deal.
friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. Allowed us back to shower after Liverpool Tunnel 10k
Positioned right opposite the Albert dock with helpful and friendly staff. Free parking.
Car park too small to hold the a car for all visitors. Poor water pressure and fluctuating temperature meant that it was impossible to use the shower, only to have a bath, and then after a fair wait.
Noise from rock music being played below our room at 7.30 in the morning from the kitchen! Also motor bikes being let out of the compound and loud talking at 3.45 am ( we had a back room) though this must have been quieter than the rooms at the front which were on a busy road. Despite there being an expecation that guests be quiet this didnt seem to apply to the staff
near the centre, friendly and comfortable, would go back again..
Very impressed with our 3-berth room - spacious, great en-suite and space around the beds. Thick duvets, were probably a bit warm for summer, but would be great in the Winter. One of the party needed to buy a towel for £4. We imagined it would be cheap & cheerful - it was thick & thirsty! Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were often back after gates were locked at 11pm (great feeling for security) and staff quite happy to meet us and let us in. Having staff on 24 hour is of great benefit. Everything was clean, tidy, and a large airy dining room and kitchen were appreciated. Will certainly recommend to others! Thank you.
While it cannot be helped, the busy Dock Road outside, with windows open, made for a noisy night. When windows were shut, the double glazing helped. Would book rooms at the back next time! Fridges in the kitchen were quite iced up - can make a difference to space, come the holidays with many wanting to use the facilities.
Staff was very frinedly adn helpful, the food was good
The shower did not wrok, none of the bed lamps in the room worked.
Very friendly staff
The shower - there were absolutely no water pressure, turn the shower head so it should spray upwards just ment in poured on the floor with no visble rays - an absolute disgrace!
The room was poorly maintained with an awful smell which permeated throughout the hostel, disgusting!! Also by the time additional supplements etc had been added it would have been cheaper to stay in a nice hotel!!
The people, the people, the people!!!....ie the hotel staff. They could not do enough for me and I had gone up there so early and had awkward luggage and from the minute I walked in they were just so helpful and James at reception gave me great info on the current photography exhibts, which I went to see that were amazing. That helped me so much for I did not have alot of time to plan anything. The atmosphere of the hostel was just so friendly, one of the best experiences of a hostel so far....a definite when I am next in town!!! But gotta sort out the color scheme in the rooms!!!
When I walked in to the room in the day, it was dark and really pokey and the carpet did not look clean. It was not light and airy. The color scheme was hideous, red and green on the stairs and blue and navy in a bedroom....triple yack!!!!! Made it depressing an made me really feel that I was staying somewhere really cheap. But, my bed looked clean and modern which I was suprised....just wasn't a joy to wake up in that room is all. The bathroom had hair in the tub, total turn off.But the rest of the reception an areas downstairs were very modern, looked very clean, airy, bright and inviting as you walked in.
